NEBDN Courses

Certificate in Dental Radiography

This course is available as an on-line programme with workplace support. The examination for this course is provided by the NEBDN twice yearly and all candidates will be required to travel to this venue. Applicants must be able to access all radiographic techniques, to include intra oral and extra oral views. Applicants are expected to source all required radiographic views themselves and should ensure this is possible before application. Applications are not accepted from dental nurses who do not hold a registrable qualification.

Orthodontic Nursing

The Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing is available as an online programme and can be started any time. The examination is provided by the NEBDN twice yearly and all candidates will be required to travel to this venue. This course is suitable for dental nurses who work extensively with orthodontic patients. To qualify for this programme you need to be able to access orthodontic patients of all appliance types. We do not accept applications from registered dental nurses who do not hold a recognised qualification in dental nursing. This course can also be taken in conjunction with the Certificate of Competency in Impression Taking which is also provided online.

Implant Nursing

This course is available as an online programme with workplace support and can be started anytime. The examination for this course is provided twice yearly by the NEBDN and all candidates will be required to travel to this venue. Applicants must work in an environment where dental implants are regularly undertaken to fulfil the requirements of the Record of Competence. A minimum of 25 cases will be required to complete the programme. Applications are not accepted from dental nurses who do not hold a registrable qualification.

Special Care Dental Nursing

The Certificate in Special Care Dental Nursing is available as an on-line programme and can be started anytime. This course is suitable for dental nurses who work extensively with special care patients and can be started at any time. To qualify for this programme in the first instance, you need to hold up-to-date CPR and Moving and Handling Certificates. The examination for this course is provided by the NEBDN twice yearly and all candidates will be required to travel to this venue. Students must be able to access the variety of patient types needed to meet the criteria of the Record of Competence. The syllabus is available on request. We do not accept applications from registered dental nurses who do not hold a recognised qualification in dental nursing.

Assessment

Each course is subject to a final written examination provided by the NEBDN and students will be required to attend the NEBDN exam venue for this. Exam dates are provided on the application form where students are required to indicate their preferred date.

Please note that the Record Of Competence for ALL of the above courses is required 3 months prior to the exam and if not received or if not complete, students cannot be entered.
